As individuals we learn, as a family we grow - together we are the future

Welcome To Our School Website

Term Dates

Dear Parents and Carers,

Woodthorpe is a vibrant, thriving school with raising standards, where a strong emphasis is placed on the individual child, within a Christian ethos of love and mutual respect.  We encourage our children to make the most of the many opportunities we give them, so that they are highly motivated to learn and are prepared for the next exciting stages of their lives.

The partnership that the school develops with parents makes a profound contribution to the successful development and achievement enjoyed by our children.  Parents have a vital part to play in what the school seeks to do and can help children come to school prepared, equipped and ready to play a full part in the caring, family atmosphere here.

We have high expectations in work, play and social behaviour so that each child will benefit from an inspirational experience at the start of their school lives, and where they can feel happy, secure, valued and loved.

Visits to the school are encouraged and we would be delighted to give you a tour and answer any questions you may have.  Please contact the school office who will be happy to arrange a visit.

Living Eggs

Children in Class 1 have been fascinated as they watched chicks hatch from eggs in their classroom.

Check out the photos in our gallery.

Local Sporting Activities

We are currently celebrating the sporting actvities that our children participate in.  Every Wednesday Mr Windsor is asking for children who can wear their sporting kit and talk to children in assembly about what they do, where and when it takes place and how others could become involved.  Joe Hipkiss and Harry Wilson recently talked about their role at Staveley Cricket Club.

We hope to display these local sports in school as information for both pupils and parents.

Bronze Young Ambassadors

Alasdair Needham, Abigail Shephard, Tyler Burton and Halle Wignell-Boot attended a conference on Thursday 16th January 2014 at the English Institute of Sport with a view to developing sport in school.  They have taken on the role of Bronze Young Ambassadors with great enthusiasm and commitment and are currently delivering after school activities on Thursdays from 3.15 pm to 4.15 pm.  These activities are open to children in Classes 2 and 3, the cost is £1.00 per session.

Local Sporting Activities

Do you take part in a sporting activity in the local area?  If you do and would be prepared to wear your sports kit and talk in assembly about what you do at your activity, where and when it takes place and how others could become involved, please see Mr Windsor on the Monday morning before a Wednesday assembly.
